Hello,

1. There is an informal race scheduled for March 10th, I am unable to attend this day so if anyone is able/willing to help with organization just let me know and I can give you some direction. Reminder... as it is informal not a lot of set-up required etc.

2. There are only 5 weekends of NG left!!..As spring break is in the middle of it we like to know our numbers for coaching. If you ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING LOCAL HILLS on the 17/18th and 24/25th please notify me, otherwise I will take it that you are away.

3. March 31st is the last day of NG, there is an informal race/fun day, BBQ for racers and families at Purden.

4. The NG festival at Sunpeaks is over Spring Break, March 23/24. I have heard from a few families, please let me know your intentions as the PG Club needs to register as a group and deadline is March 17th.

5. As we are in the final month of the 2011/12 season I just wanted to put it out there that I am not returning as a coordinator for the Nancy Greene group. The ski club is looking for volunteers to help run the Nancy Greene program for the 2012/13 season. Any interested parties can notify myself and we can discuss what positions are available.

The PG Ski Club is hosting a NG Festival Day on the 25th of February at Purden. If you would like your child to participate in this festival you MUST PRE-REGISTER. Registrations will NOT be taken at the hill. Registration is accepted until Monday the 20th.

There is a registration fee 15.00 payable at day of festival. Lift passes are 25.00 for competitors and family members. These passes MUST be purchased as a group. You will be charged full fare at ticket booth.
When entering your child please list how many other tickets are required and if your child needs a pass also.

Hello, a few notes to cover:

1. Although there is a race in Quesnel this weekend. NG regular schedule is still a GO at the local hills.

2. I will be posting a race notice that came from Smithers there is an NG race being offered Feb 18th and 19th..again the PG club should register as a team. If you are interested in taking your child(ren) to this race please notify me by Tues the 14th.

3. As stated before, our local ski club is also hosting an NG Festival event for Saturday Feb 25th. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! below I have compiled a potential list of what is required to run a festival day smoothly. You DO NOT need to ski to help out with this event. If you know of a high school student that needs volunteer hours send them my way. The success of these races depends on the volunteers..lets make this a fun day for the kids. Please do not be intimidated by the tasks.. I can give you more info if you are interested in a specific task.

Coaches Meeting: Saturday,February 11 at 9:00 am atthe Race Office at Troll Resort – event registration will take place at thistime and location as well as the distribution of lift tickets for both days.

Sanction: BC Alpine & ICR/ACA rules apply

Eligibility: E1, E2 and K1 racers

Entry Fee: $20 per child which includes Saturday nightdinner at Troll Resort following the completion of the day’s events. Family members are also welcome to attend thedinner, adults $15 and siblings/non-racers $10 (children under 5 no charge). One cheque can be issued to the LightningCreek Ski Club for entry fee, additional meal costs and lift tickets. Please provide itemized list of costs beingpaid.

On the spreadsheet there are 2 bibs..#70 and #49 with HUSKY written on them..I do not know who you are..could you please let me know so I can give you a proper bib? Thanks

Hello, there are a few notes to cover:
Saturday 28th ALL SKIERS AT PURDEN
Justine Parent from BC Alpine will be conducting a coach training academy. She would like all the NG coaches and athletes to be at Purden, so she can observe and interact. All E2s and alpine athletes not going to Shames are strongly encouraged to be at Purden, outside the lodge at 9:15 am for this great opportunity. NG coaches will also need rides to Purden, if you can help, please let me know! NG at Tabor is cancelled on Saturday.

Sunday 29th ALL SKIERS AT HART

Weather permitting there will be an informal race at the Hart ski hill. Set up will start around 9:30 and finish around noon. This is an informal race times will be posted via email once they have been entered. This is a fun race to get the kids accustomed to gates. volunteers are needed to help out with set-up/take down and timing etc.

As per the calendar there is a Formal race scheduled for February the 25th..this race is a NG festival and all ski clubs from the North will be invited. As that could mean over 80 kids attending we NEED volunteers. There is more planning involved and so a meeting has been scheduled for Monday Jan 30th at 7pm at Steve Tanakas home 5240 Dalhousie (college heights). Please do not be intimidated :)...even if you don't ski there are "lodge jobs" to cover, as well we hope to have some "veteran" parents around to support coordination of this big event. If you are unable to make the meeting but want to volunteer please let me know and therefore I can keep you updated with info.

Hello,

Brrr! For those families waiting to train at the Hart Highlands, thanks for letting me know when you plan on attending the training at Tabor. Please continue to inform us so that we can be prepared accordingly. If your plans change, please email or phone me when possible so that we can adjust our own plans for training and coaching staff.

Please have a healthy snack (granola bar, carrots, bell peppers, water/sport drink) available for your kids during their morning break. Despite the cold, the kids can easily become dehydrated and fatigued as a result. Parents are responsible for their children over the lunch break, so ensure that they eat and drink well in preparation for the afternoon fun. Soft drinks are not recommended as they provide very little hydration due to the high sugar content. Fortunately, french fries are not available at Tabor :) Proper hydration and nutrition play a large role in athletic performance.

NG pre-Christmas Camp

Hi Everyone,

First, in case there's any confusion, I am the Prince George Ski Club Program Director, but also the head coach for the alpine program; I will not be coaching Nancy Greene regularly, but I am available to answer questions, or direct you to someone who has the answer. I am also recruiting and coordinating coaches for the Nancy Greene program, so if you have any questions or concerns about your child's coach, or if you would like to be involved in coaching in some way, let me know.

The NG pre-Christmas camp starts tomorrow at Purden, children and coaches will meet at 9:15 am outside the lodge. Conditions will be good at Purden, there's lots of snow; it may be cold, so please dress your child appropriately. I will be at Purden for all three days, please feel free to introduce yourselves and ask me any questions.

If you will be skiing: Parents are welcome to stick close to their child's group, especially if you know your child has trouble with the lift, or that they often fall and need help getting up. HOWEVER, please let the coach give the instructions and provide the feedback.

I will have NG bibs for children who don't have one from last year.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to those who have emailed me regarding the Nancy Greene pre-Christmas camp. If you didn't receive the information previously, here it is:

Pre-Christmas camp at Purden from Dec 21-23. Skiers and coaches will meet at 9:15 am in front of the day lodge, and, following warm-up, ski until 2:00 pm, with lunch from 12:00-12:30 pm. If your child (or children) will be skiing on one or more of these days, you MUST email me (Alice), at alicemuirhead@gmail.com, ASAP.

I also need to know where your child (or children) will be skiing this season. We have planned to offer coaching at Purden, Tabor, and Hart Highlands, and children are welcome to ski at any area on any day, however, as of right now, nobody has expressed interest in skiing at Tabor. It isn't feasible for the club to have a coach at Tabor without a regular group of skiers, therefore: if you know you will be skiing at Tabor, you must let me know, or I will cancel the Tabor program, and move those coaches to Purden and Hart Highlands.

Hi Everyone!

I have busy over the past few weeks, coaching the alpine athletes, hiring Nancy Greene coaches, and creating plans for the season ahead; I hope you're as excited as I am!

I have planned a three day pre-Christmas camp at Purden from Dec 21-23. Skiers and coaches will meet at 9:15 am in front of the day lodge, and, following warm-up, ski until 2:00 pm, with lunch from 12:00-12:30 pm. If your child (or children) will be skiing on one or more of these days, you MUST email me (Alice), at alicemuirhead@gmail.com, ASAP. It is nearly impossible for me to plan the number of coaches needed and the type of activities that will be done each day if I don't know how many participants there will be.

The regular Nancy Greene program will begin Saturday, January 7. From then on, Nancy Greene will be as follows:

Saturdays, 9:15 am-2:00 pm, at Purden and Tabor
Sundays, 9:15 am-12:00 pm, at Purden and Tabor
Sundays, 1:00 pm-3:30 pm, at Hart Highlands
Wednesday, 6:15 pm-8:00 pm, at Hart Highlands

Participants are permitted to ski at any area on any day, but if you already know where your child will be skiing, please let me know as I am currently putting together a coaching schedule for the season, and again, knowing numbers makes planning much easier.

If you have questions or concerns about equipment, please contact me, or talk to Mark at Ruckus, Aaron at Evolve, or Phil at NR Board & Ski. Mark, Aaron, and Phil are all knowledgeable and supportive of the Prince George Ski Club.

Hello Everyone,

The ski swap is almost here! I have included another announcement incase any of you would like to forward the information.
There have been a few changes in that Purden and tabor will also be giving away free lift passes.

We will need as many volunteers as possible to do all of the different jobs involved. The work starts on Friday with set up and receiving of equipment from 4-8.
If you are able to help with set up before 4 please contact me.

There will be a lineup at the door before we open at 8am so volunteers need to be there by 7:30 so that we can make sure everyone knows their job (and can have a sip of coffee before the onslaught) The first couple of hours are usually very busy.

Volunteers who are there on Friday night get first dibs on the ski equipment that comes in and will be able to purchase it on Friday.

Remember that all families are expected to do some volunteer work and this is a great opportunity to participate.

Dryland Changes

Hi Everyone,

To better accommodate everyone, we are changing the location and times of Nancy Greene dryland. Next week, and every week after that, dryland will be held at Pinewood Elementary, and will be divided into two separate sessions: 6 pm - 6:55 pm and 7:05 pm - 8 pm. Please bring your child (or children) to ONE of the two sessions.

I will not be coaching dryland for the next two weeks, I am going out of town. Corbin Black, and possibly Conner Wells, who have both coached NG for several years will be filling in.

Nancy Greene dryland will be on Wednesday from 6 pm- 7 pm on October 26 (tomorrow), at Spruceland Elementary. Last week was incredible, I was so happy to see so many enthusiastic young skiers. We are working on ways to better accommodate everyone; we're hoping to book a different gym from 6-8 pm on Wednesday nights, to allow for one session between 6 & 7 pm and another between 7 & 8 pm. I'll keep you posted!

Hi Everyone!

Nancy Greene dryland will start next week on Wednesday, October 19th. Dryland is from 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm at Spruceland Elementary School. Dryland is a great opportunity for your child to meet other athletes, develop skiing specific physical skills, and have fun. The sessions will be different each week, but in general, sessions consist of a dynamic warm-up; a game (soccer, basketball, and handball are favorites); skiing specific drills and activities; cool-down and static stretching.

Please ensure your athlete has appropriate running or cross-training shoes, athletic clothing, and a water bottle for every session.

Dryland starts TODAY for alpine athletes!

Alpine dryland training will run from 6 pm - 8 pm, Tuesday and Thursday at Edgewood Elementary School. If an athlete has other commitments and won't be at dryland, please let me (ALICE- alicemuirhead@gmail.com) know.

Wood-splitting Fundraiser

Sandbagging is behind us and so it is time to turn our minds and sore muscles toward wood splitting! Christine is now coordinating the wood deliveries and needs to know who has a bickup trucks and trailers available for October 15, 16 and 22, 23. Please let us know what size of truck box you have, what size your trailer is and which days your vehicle or trailer is available.

We also need experienced buckers with saws and safety gear. Please let us know if you have experience, a saw or gear. We really need buckers!

Also, the wood splitting and brushing may conflict for the the October 22/ 23 weekend but we will plan the wood splitting and work the brushing into the schedule as more information becomes available.

Truck/flatbed volunteer required

After the weekend of the 17th/18th..as the club finishes sandbagging on the 24th/25th we will require a truck flatbed to deliver the product to local businesses. If you or anyone you know is able to fill this position. Fuel is compensated. Please let Audrey Rowell/Stuart Gairns know. Thank-you

Ski Club Fundraiser

Hello, The most dreaded word among Ski Club Members
SANDBAGGING!!!!!!
It is that time of the year again fellow members and we
NEED YOUR HELP.
This is the clubs most profitable fundraiser of the year
and requires everyone's
participation to be effective.
Place: Hart Mohawk..across from weigh scales Time:
September 16 start at 5:30 till dusk
September 17 8- 4:30 September 18 8- 4;30

Please bring lots of pallets (no light weight ones please),
we need about 120
for this weekend. Lots of places around town have them
outside and they are
normally there for the taking. Art Knapps, Princess Auto,
Canadian Tire, etc.
They need to be sturdy pallets
(the odd broken one board we can deal with - repair, etc.)

Please wear appropriate clothing for weather and dirt..
gloves, hat. and lots of H2O and snacks.
